Mount Rainier and Back in a day

Tony had this mad plan for a while...to ride to Mount Rainier, round it, and back again in a day. It's 170 miles. He's been thinking about it for a few months and tried to do it on his birthday but got sick. Well, today was the day. No punctures, no accidents, no drama, just rode 170 miles to a mountain, up it and back home again.

Here is a map of the area. He went out via Elbe (bottom left) and back via Greenwater (top centre).

Here are his pictures. I'll get him to write something later, he's a little sleepy right now!

Starting the ride officially at Tacoma Bike, 4.30am

Crazy fog and trees then c.9am on the way up the mountain

Top of the first climb towards Paradise

Top of the second climb - Cayuse Pass. He let himself have a little lie down here.

Nice cup of coffee on the way back. 5.55pm return to Tacoma Bike.
